Logo Design - CATS-i

CATS-i logo design

Latest logo I designed was one for CATS-i.  Which is a tracking company.  After a limited brief and multiple changes to that limited brief throughout the design stage made it quite a tricky one to get finished, but this is what I ended up with.  Below are the stages I went through to produce it.

So as with any design you always start out with a bit of research.  There were a few companies in the UK who would be a competitor to CATS-i but a main one which was TRACKER had a very prominant logo and have been around for a while.

Next stage was brainstorming then sketching page after page of ideas, cats, eyes, C+i, abstract eyes, navigation symbols, satelites etc etc Continue Reading

24 week update

// June 2nd, 2009 // No Comments » // sick note

This has completely slipped my mine untill i started to redesign my blog.

Everything has pretty much been steady the last few months, had a biopsy to follow up my slight rejection and that was all fine, today i was taken off my cell cept tablets.

I have said goodbye to st helier hospital which has been great to me and im now going to Frimley park every 3 weeks to see Dr Andrews who is the man!

I have just got back from a trip to Toronto Canada (photos can be found on my flickr) which was great except for the taking tablets at 5am.   Watching the hockey at a good time was great.  I was able to spend all the money that was saved by not going out in the last year.

now im looking forward to the next holiday maybe NY again.

pretty much back to work 9-6pm, back to training tomorrow night and just about to go in the gym.

I have been meaning to write this for ages becasue many people have asked me what I use to protect my kidney when i play hockey.  That right im going to keep playing, the docs said aslong as i find protection i can.

So I have had some really good help from many companies, some which wanted up to £10,000 to set something up others asking for a few hunderd dollars.  I contacted companies such as dragon skin, d30,  Armourshield, Mcdavid, shock doctor, pinnacle armor and more. Continue Reading

Post from css-tricks.com, i couldnt have worded it better myself.

I used to work in pre-press before I got into web design. I worked at three different somewhat large printing shops. Pre-press is the department that is in between clients (designers) files and actually getting those files to press. It might not be obvious, but there is a TON of work that needs to be done to prepare client files to actually be printed and through the bindery. This isn’t the time or place to get into all that grisly detail, but once that process is done, typically a final proof is produced to be signed off on by the client. This is to make sure that nothing happened during all the preparation for press that screwed up the piece.

It is not uncommon for there to be changes that come back on proofs. This process of changes needs to be streamlined in a print shop. People are working on many different jobs and it’s impossible to keep everything in your head all at once. Continue Reading

New Camera - Lumix LX3

Lumix LX3

Lumix LX3

I have managed to get my hands on an Lumix LX3 which is a digital camera if you hadn’t of guessed by the thumbnail.  I was really split between the LX3 and a canon G10.  After reading alot of reviews on both cameras and seeing the G10 in stores I chose the LX3.  Mainly becasue of the size as its truely pocketable also the f2.0 lens will be helpful one downside is the lack of zoom but you cant have everything.  I dont know a great deal about photography but its worth learning as I will be able to use all my own photos in my design work rather then looking through photos on google. Week 15 update

// February 26th, 2009 // No Comments » // sick note

Been busy lately with getting my life back so working and excercising and the odd night out.  Everything is going well after the rejection been taken down on tablets so only 17 per day now which is fine, much rather take tablets then be on dialysis.  I am hoping to pick up my final kidney armour next week then I will review each one and let you know so if you do want to play sport you can pick the right one for you.

My 21st birthday in 4 days and when i look back to my last birthday I had no health problems at all and since late march I have been hospitalised for a total of about a month, had 100s of blood tests had dialysis and a transplant and now got 3 kidneys and quite a few scars to prove it.  When I look back and realise how crucial that blood test was in march i am glad my parents pushed me to go.  If I hadnt of gone for a blood test I wouldnt be here I would have got to around june when my creatine went from 300 to 600 to 1000 in around a week then it would have been around 1500 then 2000(dead).

I did not know anything about the kidneys untill I found out I had problems since then I have learnt alot about them and how important they are to us.  Not many people know they control blood pressure, toxin levels the amount of urine you produce and more.

Other then having probably the best health I will ever get in my life I have got over my fear of needles, I hated the things but since having blood tests nearly everyday you just get used to it.

Pepsi Rebrand

Pepsi Rebranded costing $1.2bn…was it worth it?
They have made a slight change to the iconic logo. The first logo was designed in 1905 and since then it has been evolving. Most people would recognise the blue red with a white wave, but now you will be seeing a “smile” inside the red and blue circle. US will be seeing the new design in shops early 2009. hours Ive spent in hospital in 3 days.

hours Ive spent in hospital in 3 days.

21 is the amount of hours I have been in Hospital in the last 3 days.  Monday I went for clinic and they wanted a biopsy as they could not work out why my creatinine had gone up by 20pts.  So i went back to beacon ward and waited, 4 hours later I was told that they could not get me a bed that day so come back in the morning.

The next morning was up at 6.40 to try and battle the traffic and get there on time.  This time they were ready for me  so had my biospsy then layed for 6 hours on my back to stop any more bleeding.  It was not as bad as my last two ive had.  My ipod got me through again.  So now 4pm i was ready to go home but no.
